It was competition night again at West Herts Speakers, with three adept speakers and three rousing evaluations to capture the spirit of the evening.
For the second time, Trevor Springall won the day with his speech, entitled The Set of the Sail, based on an extraordinary true story of survival against the odds and how something as simple as a survival manual can make all the difference- if you read it!
New member Shola Ayeni did her first evaluation on Gwendoline Alderton’s target speech, a very brave step given that Shola was effectively making her evaluator debut under a big spotlight. Sanjit Joseph, the Club’s Vice President Education gave a note free evaluation, but it was Elizabeth Hendry who won the day with her detailed piece.
Both Trevor and Elizabeth now go on to represent West Herts Speakers on Sunday March 25th at Glebe Hall in Stanmore. Entry fee is £3.00 and we encourage you to go along and support our winners, as well as hearing some fantastic speeches from winners in the division’s other clubs.
It’s back to business as usual at the next meeting on March 14th and we look forward to welcoming members and guests at West Herts Speakers
