Club members proved what a romantic bunch they are, as, in tribute to Valentine’s Day, the subject of last night’s Table Topics Extravaganza was love.
Ryan Pearson took on the formidable task of Table Topics Master and did a magnificent job, charming the ladies with his wry humour and twinkling eyes, while encouraging the gents to open their hearts and minds to this weighty subject.
It was down to Anthony Nixon to claim the night’s Table Topics crown, as his impromptu rendition of a poem about an Englishman’s ‘sang froid’ went down a storm. It was great to see the debut of newcomers Maclee and Paul and we look forward to hearing their Icebreakers very soon.
Four strong speeches proved stiff competition, and Sanjit Joseph won the room over with his excellent The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of. Sanjit, who has recently taken on the role of VP Education, also stepped up to the plate, or rather lectern, as he took on the previously unclaimed role of the evening’s Toastmaster.
We welcomed back Annie Kaszcina, who not only did a Table Topic, but also won the ribbon and award for Best Evaluator of the Night.

It is fabulous to have the experienced West Herts members at the meetings as they give great support to all of our newcomers.
Next meeting is a competition night and we hope you’ll come along to listen to some brilliant speeches and evaluators.
